What is a Mentor?
SeaPerch Mentors to help guide team in the building and creation of their underwater ROV. Mentors are essential resources and are encouraged to blend their own creativity and professional experiences with that of their team's to guide in the construction of a winning vehicle.

SeaPerch Mentor's Role
• Engineer/Professional in the classroom
• Share career experiences
• Assist teacher with the build
• Assist students with troubleshooting
• Reinforce concepts teachers have taught
• Act as your team’s liaison to the SeaPerch Challenge’s Support Network
– Act on questions concerning the competition or craft design
– Feed back requests for rulings on satisfying competition requirements
– Rely on other mentors with expertise in specialized areas
• Leverage your expertise and guide teams through the core technical principals
– You’re likely your team’s “best athlete” for buoyancy, propulsion, circuits, etc.
• Provide help with kit construction
– New mentors invited to participate in the Build Training
• Provide help with presentation skills notebook organization
– Presentation plays into many of the graded and judged products
